Runway Doll was bet throughout for this debut and absolutely crushed the competition in the Saratoga slop to become the latest ‘TDN Rising Star’. First out of the gate at a nickel above 5-2, the dark bay filly opened up through a :22.73 quarter-mile. Challenged by co-favorite Blind Pool (Awesome Again) to her inside midway on the turn, Runway Doll easily shrugged off that foe and kicked clear at will in the stretch, cantering under the wire 13 1/2 lengths to the good while under wraps late. Ladies Day (Bernardini), a 30-1 longshot, came on late to win a photo for place money. Runway Doll, a $30,000 RNA as a KEESEP yearling, sold for $175,000 at OBS April after breezing one furlong in :9 4/5. The winner is a half to Song Warrior (Songandaprayer), SW, $130,796. Her unraced dam is a half to GISW’s Nine Keys (Forty Niner) and Silver Voice (The Minstrel). Second dam Clef d’Argent won the 1979 GII Test S. French Line produced a filly by Paynter this year. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $49,800.
