The second foal from his speedy dam, Sargent Seattle had been training smartly at Saratoga since the beginning of May and went postward as the 5-2 third choice. He came away smartly under Javier Castellano and shadowed 2-1 Bold Trust (Trust N Luck) through fractions of :22.31 and :45.38. Asked for a bit more turning for home, the ebony-colored colt forged to the lead in midstretch and kicked on to defeat the favorite by 6 1/2 lengths. In Orbit (Sky Mesa) came on to claim third. Sargent Seattle, a $475,000 KEESEP yearling, marks the fourth winner for his freshman sire (by Seattle Slew). Sweet Nanette won seven of 13 career starts before selling for $250,000 at the 2003 Keeneland January Sale. Offered while carrying this colt at Keeneland November in 2004, the bay sold for $575,000 to Eldon Farm Equine. She has a yearling filly by Unbridled's Song. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $37,200.
