Silent Beauty | Goffs

The word was out for Night Of Thunder's daughter Silent Beauty at Yarmouth on Wednesday and Amo Racing's €1million Goffs Orby Book 1 buy lived up to the hype to become her sire's seventh TDN Rising Star, Presented by Hagyard.

Sent off the 5-4 favourite for the six-furlong two-year-old fillies' maiden on the rain-hit fixture, the Kevin Philippart De Foy-trained daughter of the Matron Stakes heroine No Speak Alexander (Shalaa) cruised near the pace throughout before being given the office by David Egan two out.

Soon clear, the diminutive starlet hit the line strong to score by four lengths from the Andrew Balding-trained fellow newcomer Scommessa Sicura (Cracksman), with two lengths back to the Richard Hughes-trained Dubai Charm (Blackbeard) who had chased home The King's highly-regarded King's Prize on debut.

“She was a bit star-struck on her first day at school, but was fine in the race and I was going comfortably from quite a long way out,” Egan said. “She burned off her rivals and didn't mind the rain-I was more pleased for her to run with a bit of ease in the surface rather than it being firm for her first start, but she has a big action and is a fine mover who will go on quicker ground.”

Philippart De Foy added, “She was quite green beforehand, but is like that at home too so there are a few things to tweak. She needed the experience today and if she was to make it to Royal Ascot she will have another run in three weeks and then it'll be three weeks again to there. She is not very big, but she's very genuine and we'll stay at six for the next two months before moving up to seven. She'll be better on faster ground too, this is a bit loose on top.”

“She's always shown ability at home and plenty of speed, so I was delighted to see her do it that way,” her trainer added. “I think she's still a bit raw and there's plenty of improvement to come, especially when she gets on quicker ground. The race developed a long way out and she probably ended up in front sooner than we would have ideally wanted, but she showed a very good attitude and was really professional in the final two furlongs.”

Pedigree Notes

Silent Beauty, who will look to add further lustre to a select band of TDN Rising Stars for Night Of Thunder including Bow Echo, Desert Flower, Distant Storm and the exciting Synchronicity, is the second foal out of No Speak Alexander who was also successful in the G3 Athasi Stakes and was third in the Irish 1,000 Guineas.

She is kin to the fast and precocious Listed scorer Rapacity Alexander (Dandy Man), who is a full-sister to the Hong Kong champion sprinter Peniaphobia while the family also features the G3 Molecomb Stakes-placed Safari Sunset (Fayruz). No Speak Alexander's three-year-old colt Thucydides Trap (Frankel) has yet to race, while she also has a yearling filly by Wootton Bassett and a filly foal by Blue Point.
