Whispering Oaks Farm’s Sir Truebadour (More Than Ready) became the second ‘TDN Rising Star’ of the day with an impressive wire-to-wire victory in his Churchill Downs unveiling Thursday. Let go at 4-1, the $300,000 FTSAUG buy broke on top from his rail draw and zipped along comfortably through an opening quarter in :22.57. Hitting the half in :45.91, the dark bay juvenile continued clear in the stretch to a seemingly effortless four-length graduation. Signalman (General Quarters) was the runner-up.
The winner is a full-brother to GI Nearctic S. and 2011 GII Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint victor Regally Ready, GISW, $1,830,437, who was also trained by Steve Asmussen. Sit Truebadour is the most recent produce from their dam Kivi, who was stakes-placed in France. A daughter of GSW & M G1SP Vilikaia (Nureyev), she visited GI Kentucky Derby hero Nyquist last season. Sir Truebadour hails from the female family of European, English, French and Irish Highweight The Grey Gatsby (Ire) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}); English and French Highweight Maximova (Fr); and Group 1 winners Macoumba and Septieme Ciel.
