2st Dam: Illuminating

Owner: Mr & Mrs Jerome S Moss
Breeder: Mr & Mrs Jerome S Moss (KY)
Trainer: John Sadler

In less than 24 hours, trainer John Sadler unveiled a pair of “TDN Rising Stars” at Del Mar. He sent out Sweet Swap (Candy Ride {Arg}), a full to GISW Sidney's Candy (also a 'Rising Star') for the Craig Family Trust Saturday, and unleashed the Moss's next potential superstar here. To add to the coincidences, Sister Moon bested Sidney's Candy's track record for 5 1/2 furlongs one-hundredth of a second. The dark bay was backed down to 9-5, second choice behind opening day runner-up Lady Fairbanks (Pure Prize), but she made that price look like quite the bargain. Zipping to the lead from her inside draw, Sister Moon always had a clear edge on her competition through splits of :22.03 and :44.96. She entered the lane isolated by 5 1/2 lengths, and increased that margin to 9 3/4 without any encouragement from pilot Joel Rosario. Candy and Thunder (Candy Ride {Arg}) got up late for second over the chalk. Sister Moon, a $57,000 OBSAPR RNA, is the second foal out of Jerry and Ann Moss's two-for-five Shimmer, a $210,000 KEESEP yearling of 2003. Shimmer has a maiden 3-year-old Tale of the Cat colt and was barren in 2010. She foaled a Giacomo filly this year. Shimmer's dam is GII Comely S. winner Private Light. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $37,800.
