Somewhere (f, 2, Quality Road—Silver Lullaby, by Najran) sparkled beneath the Twin Spires at second asking to earn her ‘TDN Rising Star’ badge Friday afternoon.
The gray took plenty of money at 3-1 for the Buff Bradley barn in her June 1 Churchill debut and reported home a better-than-it-looked fifth after a slow start and wide middle move going five furlongs. Somewhere trained smartly in the interim, including a four-furlong move in :47 (2/42) June 15 and a three-furlong bullet in :35 3/5 (1/28) in the Churchill slop June 24.
Off at 7-2 this time, the half-sister to 2014 GIII Sanford S. winner Big Trouble (Tiz Wonderful) broke sharply and was on the engine through an opening quarter in :21.82. Somewhere began to blast away from her 10 rivals on the far turn while under a nice hold and kept on motoring down the stretch to graduate impressively by 5 3/4 lengths. My Candy Crush (Goldencents) was second.
Somewhere is a half-sister to the aforementioned Big Trouble (Tiz Wonderful), GSW, $235,000; Silver Lining John (Tiz Wonderful), SP, $221,025; and Silver Sidney (Sidney’s Candy), SP, $134,502.
Silver Lullaby had a Will Take Charge Filly in 2017 and a Gemologist filly in 2018. Silver Lullaby, a two-time winner for Four Roses Thoroughbreds, brought $52,000 from Berkey Bloodstock, agent, in foal to Silver Wagon at the 2008 KEENOV Sale.
Somewhere’s second dam Million Stories (Exclusive Native) is a half-sister to 1989 G1 Dubai Poule d’Essai des Pouliches-French One Thousand Guineas heroine Pearl Bracelet (Lyphard).
