Stallion Heiress put on a wire-to-wire tour de force in the Joseph E. “Spanky†Broussard S. at Fair Grounds to move to two-for-two and become the latest ‘TDN Rising Star’. Cruising by four lengths in her sprint debut with a strong 84 Beyer here Dec. 8, the $100,000 KEESEP buy was bet to even-money in this stretchout attempt. Breaking very sharply, she quickly kicked away by four lengths on the field and widened further as a pulled-up horse caused commotion behind her on the clubhouse turn. Ticking off splits of :23.99 and :47.96 while opening 10 lengths down the backstretch, Stallion Heiress was never threatened in the stretch and won well clear while wrapped up late. Hotshot Anna was second. The winner’s third dam was a MGSW/MGISP runner. Her graded stakes placed dam foaled a colt by Broken Vow last term before returning to that sire. “I was a little concerned coming off the sprint with how fast she ran then, but she relaxed really good for me,†winning rider Mitchell Murrill said. “She did everything and I was just a passenger.†Victorious trainer Mike Stidham added, “That was impressive. She did it all on her own. You always worry coming out of one sprint race going two turns, plus having a bit of a layoff, but she has class and she did it nicely.â€
