Stormy’s Song led wire-to-wire to win her career debut and earn ‘TDN Rising Star’ honors, kicking off GI Belmont S. week with a bang. The gray posted a steady series of works at Keeneland and Belmont in recent weeks and was let go at odds of 9-1 here. Away without incident, she showed the way comfortably through fractions of :22.17 and :45.48. Shaking off her closest pursuer spinning into the stretch, Stormy’s Song drew clear to notch a seven-length victory. Privy Council (Majesticperfection), returning from a year-plus layoff, rallied to complete the exacta. The winner’s second dam is Lady Tak (Mutakddim), winner of the 2003 GI Test S. and 2004 GI Ballerina H. Stormy Tak is the first foal from Stormy Tak, who is also responsible for the unraced 2-year-old Tiznow colt Time for War, a yearling filly by Declaration of War and a weanling filly by Will Take Charge. Stormy Tak’s stakes-winning half-sister Melody Lady (Unbridled’s Song) is herself the dam of 2-year-old Buy Sell Hold, who became the first winner and first stakes winner for freshman sire Violence with a pair of wins in Kentucky in recent months.
