Stunning View was runner-up on debut to “TDN Rising Star” Kingsfort (War Chant) in the seven-furlong Curragh maiden June 26 which has already been franked by the success of the third-placed Viscount Nelson (Giant's Causeway). His starting price of 4-9 could be described as generous as the representative of Dermot Weld's Rosewell House stable, which has elevated an otherwise ordinary maiden to another level with 18 previous winners, including future Classic winners Grey Swallow (Ire) (Daylami {Ire}) and Go and Go (Ire) (Be My Guest). Racing keenly as he tracked the early speed in fourth, the €160,000 GOFMIL yearling was nudged into the lead on the home turn and strode clear under hand riding to easily beat Banyan Tree (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}) by three lengths. “He's a lovely two-year-old and a very well-bred horse and I think he's got everything,” Weld said. “He's a genuine colt and hopefully he'll make it to group class. It was a very good maiden he ran in at The Curragh and he has progressed from there. He'll be in the G1 National S. [at The Curragh Sept. 12] and we'll also look at the Goffs Million.” Stunning View is a half brother to Desert King (Ire) (Danehill), Hwt 3yo-Ire at 7-9.5f, 9.5-11f & 11-14f, MG1SW-Ire, G1SP-Eng, $1,072,725; Chianti (Ire) (Danehill), MGSP-Eng, $125,674; and Cairdeas (Ire) (Darshaan {GB}), GSW-Ire, $212,445. With the victory, the colt becomes the sixth winner for his freshman sire (by Giant's Causeway). Lifetime Record: 2-1-1-0, €14,983.
