Michael Langord’s Untrapped, a good second behind a ‘TDN Rising Star’ first time out, took all the late play at Churchill and cruised to a convincing score, earning his own Rising Star badge for the effort. Bet to 29-10 in that Oct. 19 unveiling at Keeneland, the $125,000 OBS April buy broke dead last and made a sustained wide rally on the far turn to be runner-up with a 77 Beyer behind the super impressive Uncontested (Tiz Wonderful). Breaking much more alertly this time around as the 6-5 favorite, the dark bay was taken back to track the pace of Adulation (To Honor and Serve) from fourth through a :22.62 quarter. Moving sweetly four wide on the turn, Untrapped took charge soon after straightening for home and easily disposed of the frontrunner, charging home to score by 5 1/4 lengths. The winner’s second dam is a half to GSW/MGISP influential sire Tale of the Cat (Storm Cat) and MG1SW Minardi (Boundary), as well as Spunoutacontrol, the SW dam of MGSW/GISP Fed Biz (Giant’s Causeway). This is also the extended family of champion and sire Johannesburg (Hennessy) and GISW Preach (Mr. Prospector), the dam of MGSW/GISP sire Pulpit. Untrapped’s unraced dam is responsible for a yearling filly by Flatter and foaled a Blame filly this spring before being bred to Orb. Sales History: $97,000 Ylg ‘15 KEEJAN; $150,000 Ylg ‘15 KEESEP. Lifetime Record: 2-1-1-0, $46,800.
