RV To Allow Dual Licenses
Racing Victoria will allow jockeys to also hold a trainer’s license beginning in the 2016/17 season, according to Racing.com. The change is said to offer jockeys increased options for career transition. Jockeys wishing to hold a dual license will only be able to do so under a set of conditions, including riding a minimum number of races annually–24 for fully licensed jockeys and 12 for apprentice jockeys. In addition, dual license holders will not be allowed to ride any other horse in a race against a horse they are training without specific approval by stewards, and they will not be able to have multiple entries in any one race.
