Off the mark in style on debut over this trip at Deauville Aug. 22, Cloth of Stars dealt with this potentially tricky encounter with aplomb to double his tally and provide Andre Fabre with an eighth renewal. Settled in second early by Mickael Barzalona provided with the ideal pace scenario by the English raider Sixth Sense, the bay was shaken up to take over from that rival a furlong out and asserted under a drive to ward off the threat of Vedevani. “He went to the front because we had a good draw last time, but that was not the original plan and it was nice to get a lead today,” explained rider Mickael Barzalona. “Even though he wasn’t wearing the Australian [cheekpiece] blinkers this time, he was still more focused on his racing than he was on debut. I think he has improved from that first run and he won in very good style. I also think there is much more improvement to come and he could develop into a really nice colt.”
