Shared Belief Drills for Breeders’ Cup

Champion Shared Belief (Candy Ride {Arg}) fired a six-furlong bullet in 1:14 2/5 over the Golden Gate Tapeta yesterday morning. A gritty winner of the GI Awesome Again S. at Santa Anita Sept. 27, the dark bay is the likely favorite for the GI Breeders’ Cup Classic there Nov. 1.

With jockey Russell Baze in the irons, Shared Belief registered splits of :13, :25 2/5, :37 1/5, :49 3/5 and 1:02 3/5, and galloped out seven furlongs in 1:27 2/5. Working in company with two stablemates, the undefeated sophomore gave that pair a four-length head start and rallied up the rail to blow by them in the stretch.

“It was a great work,” said Hollendorfer. “We had him come up the rail today and we’re very pleased with how everything went.”

Shared Belief will breeze a half-mile at Golden Gate Tuesday, Oct. 28 and then will ship to Santa Anita for the Classic. Click here to view a video of yesterday’s work.
