Careless Jewel (f, 4, Tapit), runaway winner of the 2009 GI Alabama S., attracted a spirited round of action as she hit the FTKNOV sales ring Sunday night to be sold as a broodmare prospect. Unraced since fading as the favorite in the GI Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic a year ago, the grey was finally knocked down to Southern Equine Stables LLC for $1.95 million. The four-year-old won five of her first six starts for owner Donver Stable and trainer Josie Carroll, including the GII Delaware Oaks and GII Fitz Dixon Cotillion S. She bankrolled $1,013,346.
