Taris Fine After Raven Run

TDN Rising Star Taris (Flatter), winner of Saturday’s GII Lexus Raven Run S. at Keeneland, has exited the race in good form according to trainer Todd Beattie. The Commonwealth New Era Racing’s $90,000 KEESEP yearling purchase was winning for the fourth time in five starts. She will not be pointed to the GI Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint at Santa Anita Nov. 1.

“I own a quarter of the filly and I can tell you that is definitely not happening,” Beattie said Sunday morning. “However, we can circle next year when the Breeders’ Cup is at Keeneland. She came out of the race 100%; she’s fine this morning.”

Added Beattie, who plans to keep Taris at Keeneland for a few more days, “She’s a May foal and just now coming into her own.”

The next start for Taris is unclear, but Beattie has a few ideas.

“We’ll keep looking at the condition books and see what’s out there, but there are not a lot of obvious spots,” Beattie said–the Grade I Madison here in April looms large on the horizon. “Absolutely. Oh yeah; we’ll be there.”
