TDN APBs: Danza
Danza (Street Boss)–last seen rallying smartly in deep stretch for third in the GI Kentucky Derby–was placed on the shelf after being deemed “not 100%” by trainer Todd Pletcher in a pre-GI Belmont S. breeze. The GI
Arkansas Derby upsetter has continued to advance in his training with JJ Pletcher at Payton Training Center in Ocala, Florida, and is set to join Todd Pletcher’s Palm Beach Downs string Oct. 1, per Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners President Aron Wellman.
“The colt has thrived since we’ve begun to gear him back up in the past six weeks or so and all reports are positive coming from the Pletcher camp,” Wellman reported.
A clocker at Belmont Park apparently got the wrong license plate earlier this month when crediting Danza with a four-furlong move in :49 2/5 Sept. 8.
“I was flattered by how many texts and emails we received as a result of Danza being on the worktab, as it was nice to see all the love for the colt, but it wasn’t him!,” Wellman revealed. “That was another Pletcher horse named Damsah (Mr. Greeley), who the official clocker confused with Danza. Honest mistake.”
Wellman added that the half-brother to GI Gold Cup at Santa Anita S. winner Majestic Harbor (Rockport Harbor) is targeting next year’s prestigious GI Donn H. at Gulfstream Park with hopes of getting the chestnut back in the entries by the beginning of the new year. -Steve Sherack
