Picture Editor was an intriguing entry from Henry Cecil here, with the two colts that had followed his exciting Frankel (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) home at Newmarket last month Nathaniel (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and Genius Beast (Kingmambo) in the line-up with the benefit of that experience. The former was a hot 5-6 favorite to build on his highly promising debut effort, and it was that rival which the initially keen Picture Editor was asked to track through the early stages in midpack. Able to cover the move of the crowd's choice, who worked his way to the front approaching the furlong pole, the Juddmonte homebred was coaxed past in the final yards without the need for Tom Queally's whip to record a short-head success at 10-1. "He was a little bit green towards the middle of the race, but he picked up well and was starting to idle a little bit going to the line," the winning rider said. "If he can build on that, he should be okay. He'll definitely stay well and I didn't have to be hard on him."
