Cursor checked in second on debut at Saratoga behind an impressive performance from the well-bred Sky Gesture (Tiznow) Aug. 28 and was hammered down to 3-5 favoritim so go one better here. Breaking a step slowly, the bay raced in a three-wide fifth behind sharp early splits of :22.59 and :45.23. Drawing alongside the leading duo turning for home, the $340,000 KEESEP buy instantly powered clear in the stretch and hit the line three lengths to the good of Special Risk (Eskendereya), who in turn was 5 3/4 lengths clear of the third-place finisher. The winner’s dam Scarlet Love is a half-sister to GISW “TDN Rising Star Tara’s Tango (Unbridled’s Song); GI King’s Bishop S. winner Visionaire (Grand Slam); and GSW & MGISP Scarlet Strike (Smart Strike). Scarlet Love produced an Orb filly in 2015 and a full-brother to the winner earlier this term. She was bred back to Flatter.
