Uni: A Horse of a Lifetime for Dubb and Partners

She'll make just one more start in the Breeders' Cup Mile before she sells at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale. Michael Dubb talks about his horse of a lifetime. After Uni (GB) (More Than Ready)'s five-year-old campaign which concluded in the Champion Turf Female award, bloodstock advisors suggested to the partners in her ownership group that it might be time to retire and sell her. After all, the owners had probably already gotten more than they had bargained for: they had campaigned her at 3, 4, and 5, and watched her...

We met her new foal, a filly by Candy Ride, at Lane's End Farm. Zenyatta's exceptional talent on the track has yet to be seen in her offspring, with her first foal Cozmic One (Bernardini) running unplaced in five starts, but now succeeding in the show ring. Guineas Win Is Sweet For Sweeter Still

When Kameko (Kitten's Joy) won the G1 2000 Guineas on June 6, he made a fairly strong case for perseverance. His dam, the well-bred graded stakes winner Sweeter Still (Ire) (Rock Of Gibraltar {Ire}), had been the co-second highest priced lot at Keeneland's January Sale in 2014 at $750,000 in foal to Galileo (Ire), carrying her second foal and bought by Phyllis Wyeth to breed to her GI Belmont S. winner Union Rags.
