Three Chimneys Acquires Majority Interest in Fast Anna

Three Chimneys Farm has acquired a majority interest in last term’s GI King’s Bishop S. runner-up Fast Anna (Medaglia d’Oro–Dreaming of Anna, Rby ahy), who will take up stud duty in 2016.

Out of champion and GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Dreaming of Anna (Rahy), the 4-year-old hails from the family of champion and top sire Kitten’s Joy (El Prado {Ire}); GISW Precious Kitten (Catienus); and MGSWs Lewis Michael (Rahy) and Justenuffhumor (Distorted Humor).

“Fast Anna is an impeccably bred and incredibly good looking horse,” Three Chimneys Director of Stallion Nominations & Sales Grant Williamson commented. “His sire Medaglia d’Oro is the co-leading sire of stakes winners this year with 23, and ranks behind only Tapit on the General Sire list. This is an opportunity for breeders to get to the El Prado line with a brilliant dirt sire. His dam Dreaming Of Anna was an undefeated 2-year-old that won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, an Eclipse Award, and retired with earnings over $2 million dollars. On top of that, she is out of a half-sister to champion sire Kitten’s Joy.Three Chimneys has already hand-picked 10 mares from the broodmare band for him, and we will be looking for more. We believe in him, and he will get every opportunity to succeed.”

Originally conditioner by Kathy Ritvo, Fast Anna opened his account with a pair of impressive victories at Gulfstream Park last term before finishing a respectable second behind “TDN Rising Star” The Big Beast (Yes It’s True) in the King’s Bishop. Fifth behind champion Work All Week (City Zip) in the 2014 GI Xpressbet Breeders’ Cup Sprint, the dark bay won his seasonal bow in the Sawgrass H. June 11 and was transferred to conditioner Wayne Catalano prior to his last start in the GIII Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix S. Oct. 2. The Frank Calabrese homebred’s record currently stands at 9-3-2-2 with earnings of $296,731.

“Fast Anna absolutely captured me the first time I saw him in the paddock prior to the King’s Bishop last year. He is drop dead gorgeous,” said Doug Cauthen, Vice Chairman of the Three Chimneys Board. “When he ran a gutsy front running second just getting nabbed on the wire in Saratoga’s premier sprint race for 3-year-olds, it confirmed that he was something very special. I’ve been after him ever since, and though some bad luck limited his 2015 campaign, I emphatically believe that he is a serious stallion prospect. His speed was brilliant, and the fact that he’s out of a Breeders’ Cup champion Rahy mare only adds to my enthusiasm. Once anyone sees him they will understand my excitement.”
