Uncle Mo Colt Cruises in Del Mar Finale

Uncle Lino | Benoit

9th-DMR, $53,750, Msw, 11-29, 2yo, 6 1/2f, 1:16.28, ft.
UNCLE LINO (c, 2, Uncle Mo–Haysee, by Orientate) set the pace and was caught late by Rockin Bayou (Forefathers) in his five-panel unveiling here July 18, while crossing the wire 5 1/4 lengths clear of subsequent GSW Toews on Ice (Archarcharch). Returning off a four-month hiatus for this second career start, the bay was overlooked at odds of 7-1. Away in good order, he set the pace from the inside through fractions of :22.02 and :45.08 and shook clear from his pursuers entering the stretch. Kept to his task, the colt crossed the wire 2 3/4 lengths clear of Wild About Deb (Eskendereya), becoming the 25th winner for his freshman sire (by Indian Charlie). Uncle Lino, a $52,000 KEESEP yearling buy, is out of Haysee, who is a sibling to MGISW Shackleford (Forestry), GISW Lady Joanne (Orientate), MGSW Baghdaria (Royal Academy), MGSW Afleeting Lady (Afleet Alex) and MGSP Stephanoatsee (A.P. Indy). The mare, who RNA'd with Uncle Lino in utero for $145,000 at the 2012 Keeneland November sale, produced a colt by Ghostzapper in 2014, a colt by Union Rags in 2015 and was bred back to Into Mischief. The Ghostzapper colt sold for $110,000 at this year's Keeneland January sale and the Union Rags weanling RNA'd for $135,000 at the Keeneland November sale.
