A handful of the Eastern raiders for Royal Randwick's The Championships posted their first serious workouts in Australia yesterday at the new quarantine center at Canterbury Park. Dual Group 3 winner Tosen Stardom (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}), who is aiming towards the G1 Ranvet S. Mar. 21 prior to the A$4 million G1 Queen Elizabeth S. at The Championships Apr. 11, cantered under jockey Tommy Berry before being pushed out through the straight.
“It was a good, solid workout without breaking a sweat,” Berry noted.
Jockey Nick Hall partnered Group 2-winning miler World Ace (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) in a similar move and said,
“He was just looking left and right to see what the others were doing.” World Ace is set to take in the G1 George Ryder S. Mar. 21 prior to the G1 Doncaster Mile Apr. 4.
Hall also galloped Group 2 winner To The World (Jpn) (King Kamehameha {Jpn}), runner-up to Gentildonna (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) in the G1 Arima Kinen in December, yesterday, and he will also partner that 4-year-old in the Queen Elizabeth. The 2013 G1 Hong Kong Vase winner Dominant (Ire) (Cacique {Ire}) was also seen cantering yesterday in preparation for the G1 Sydney Cup Apr. 11.
