Trainer Jim Best and jockey Paul John have been found guilty of charges in two cases where two National Hunt horses were allegedly intentionally stopped in December. The horses involved were Echo Brava (GB) (Proclamation {Ire}) racing at Plumpton Dec. 14 and Missile Man (Ire) (Winged Love {Ire}) running at Towcester Dec. 17.
John, Best's former conditional rider, was initially banned 14 days for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures aboard Echo Brava, but that ban was amended to two charges of him intentionally doing so. Best has been found guilty of failing in his “duty to secure the best possible placing” on two occasions as well as “conduct prejudicial to horse racing in Great Britain.”
Penalties will be announced at a later date.
