Team Valor's Euro Charline (GB) (Myboycharlie {Ire}) ran the race of her life to finish second in the G1 Dubai Turf last Saturday and her trainer Marco Botti reports her none the worse for her exertions in finishing half a length behind the winner Real Steel (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}). “Euro Charline is back in the stable now and she seems to have taken it really well, but we just want to have her back a bit before we regroup. She ran a big race and I don't think there is any more I could have done with her. The winner is a very good horse, that probably stays further as well,” said Botti. The 5-year-old, who originally cost 800gns as a yearling, picked up over £800,000 on Saturday and Botti is mulling over a few potential targets for the Grade I winner. “I've got to discuss a plan with the owners Team Valor. She has been invited to go to Hong Kong but my gut feeling is she won't go there, but she will have an entry in the G1 Lockinge and the G2 Middleton Stakes. In my opinion the Lockinge is definitely a race I would consider carefully and it would probably be my preference,” added Botti.
Another with the Lockinge as an early aim is the Clive Cox trained Kodi Bear (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}). The 4-year-old was progressive last year winning the G2 Celebration Mile at Goodwood before disappointing on his final start in the G1 QIPCO Queen Elizabeth II S. at Ascot behind Solow (GB) (Singspiel {Ire}). Kodi Bear's trainer is delighted with how his training is going this year and commented, “He has done really well over the winter and I'm thrilled he is in training as a 4-year-old – I'm sure we will be rewarded as he gives me huge confidence. The entries have been made for the Lockinge and you can see his name in there loud and clear. Hopefully it will be the right place to get him started.”
