Jockey Tyler Gaffalione and trainer Antonio Sano took their respective titles during Gulfstream Park's summer meet, which concluded Saturday. Gaffalione, who earned the Eclipse Award as the nation's leading apprentice in 2015, entered Saturday's program with 89 wins, 32 more than his closest competitor Edgard Zayas. He won the Foolish Pleasure S. early in Gulfstream's Saturday card with Awesome Banner (Awesome of Course) and the Our Dear Peggy S. aboard Silver Diva (Circular Quay).
“It's been a great meet,” said Gaffalione, who also won last year's summer meet. “I've had great support from the trainers and owners and I can't thank them enough for their continued support. Management is great here and I love riding here. My agent [Walter Blum Jr.] has worked hard and we continue to work hard.”
Sano, a third generation horseman from Venezuela, began the day with 27 wins, six more than Ralph Nicks. He won the fourth race with first-time starter Arrecife (Majestic Warrior).
