Going to 'Town' in Nashua

A field of five freshman males heads to the post for Friday's GII Nashua S., the opening-day feature of the fall meeting at Aqueduct.

Favored at 6-5 on the morning line is Mo Town (Uncle Mo), a $200,000 Keeneland September yearling acquisition from trainer Tony Dutrow's Team D, who built on a solid runner-up effort behind the promising Reckling (Dialed In) at Saratoga Aug. 27 and a seven-length romp in a one-mile maiden through the Belmont mud Sept. 24 that earned him the 'TDN Rising Star' distinction.

Courtlandt Farms' Capitaine (Tapit) figures to be closest to Mo Town in the market and progressed from a fifth in that same Aug. 27 Spa maiden to graduate nicely by 1 1/2 lengths in the Belmont mud Oct. 1. From the family of Kitten's Joy and out of a full-sister to Justenuffhumor (Distorted Humor), the $400,000 Keeneland September acquisition is a fair bet to appreciate Friday's added distance and beyond.

“With 2-year-olds, they progress at different rates, so we'll just have to see how they've both progressed since then,” trainer Mark Hennig offered. “[Capitaine] has been doing super. He's had a few nice works in between and couldn't be going into it any better.”
