It was nearly 10 p.m. on the East Coast when John Ferguson, bidding on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, struck for a well-made colt by Darley sire Street Cry (Ire), outlasting some game rivals inside the Finney Sales Pavilion on a winning bid of $1.2 million. All of the bidding was inside until Ferguson jumped in from the area near the rear walking ring with the first seven-figure offering of the evening. Consigned by John Sikura's Hill 'n' Dale Sales Agency and bred in partnership by Hill 'n' Dale, the Jan. 25 foal is the first produce of Sovereign Award winner Serenading (A.P. Indy), and hails from the distinguished female family of With Approval and Touch Gold.
