Hootenanny Retired to Buck Pond

Hootenanny | Racing Post

Hootenanny (Quality Road–More Hennessy, by Hennessy), hero of the 2014 GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf and runner-up in that season's G1 Darley Prix Morny, has been retired from racing and will stand the 2018 breeding season at Douglas S. Arnold's Buck Pond Farm in Versailles, Kentucky. A stud fee has yet to be determined.

The $120,000 KEENOV weanling and $75,000 KEESEP yearling was campaigned by owners Michael B. Tabor, Mrs. John Magnier and Derrick Smith and trained by Wesley Ward. A winner at two, three, and four, the 2014 Windsor Castle S. winner retires with a record of 16-5-3-1 and earnings of $876,698. Produced by a half-sister to GI Prioress S. heroine Cat Moves (Tale of the Cat), he was bred in Kentucky by Barronstown.

“Hootenanny was a brilliant racehorse, and he is a brilliant individual,” Arnold said. “When breeders see him, they will love him. We are very excited to have a horse with his ability and pedigree at Buck Pond.”
