Henry Plumptre, former managing director of Godolphin Australia, has been fined A$15,000 for not immediately and properly reporting a case of strangles in a Godolphin racehorse last August. Plumptre, as well as former Godolphin head trainer John O'Shea, were each charged by Racing NSW stewards for their involvement in the case, with O'Shea also charged for providing false or misleading evidence to stewards. Plumptre's guilty plea at the first available opportunity saw a A$20,000 fine reduced to A$15,000.
O'Shea pleaded not guilty to charges at a hearing on Aug. 11, but stewards have subsequently found him guilty. A penalty for O'Shea will be issued at a later date.
