Jeremy Rogers, racing manager to trainer Darren Weir, took home the Thoroughbred Excellence Award, as well as the Dedication To Racing Award, at the 2017 Australian Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards presented Saturday night at Eagle Farm Racecourse.
“I'm truly blown away,” Rogers said. “I didn't expect to win an award but to walk away with the top award is a true honour. All I ever wanted to do was to be involved in racing and I soon realised that the administrative side of a stud or stable was where I had something to offer. There are so many good people out there who should be recognised, I'm just thrilled to be one of them and to be acknowledged by organisations such as Godolphin, Racing Australia and Thoroughbred Breeders Australia is humbling. I can't thank them enough.”
Each of the six category winners at the awards received A$10,000, with a further A$3,000 to be shared among their fellow staff at their workplace. Each runner-up received A$1,000, and Rogers earned an additional A$5,000 for the Excellence award. The other winners are as follows: John Livingston (Gai Waterhouse Racing, Leadership Award); Kellie McCarthy (Mill Park Stud, Horsemanship Award); Vikki Cannon (Gooree Park Stud, Dedication To Breeding Award); Lyn Dressing (International Racehorse Transport, Administration Award); Jane Gollan (Gollan Racing, Thoroughbred Care and Welfare Award).
