Group 1-winning French colt Silverwave (Fr) (Silver Frost {Ire}) will not travel to Ireland for the G1 QIPCO Irish Champion S. at Leopardstown on Sept. 10.
The Pascal Bary-trained 4-year-old bounded into contention for the G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Chantilly when he defeated Erupt (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) by 1 1/4 lengths in the G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud at the beginning of the month.
Silverwave still holds an entry in the Leopardstown Group 1, but Bary is keen to run him a day later in the G2 Prix Foy–a renowned Arc trial which will this year be staged at Chantilly.
Bary said: “I am very happy with this horse. He looks well and is having a very good summer. We want to go to the Arc, but he will have one more run before that. The Prix Foy is an ideal next race for him, as it will be easier for him to stay in Chantilly.
He continued, “I think he has improved a lot this year and is a lot better 4-year-old than he was a 3-year-old–he is a lot easier to ride this season.”
Tenth to Golden Horn (GB) (Cape Cross {Ire}) in last year's Longchamp feature, Silverwave was runner-up to Dariyan (Fr) (Shamardal) in the G1 Prix Ganay May 1 and third in the wake of Japan's world's top-rated A Shin Hikari (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) in the G1 Prix d'Ispahan May 24 ahead of the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud.
