Sword Favoured In Coolmore Classic

With 19 accepting for Rosehill Gardens' Saturday feature race, the G1 Coolmore Classic (1500m), the lightly raced Omei Sword (Aus) (High Chaparral {Ire}) could give trainer Chris Waller another Group 1 winner. Out of the top two only once in six career starts, an eye-catching second behind Group 1 winner La Bella Diosa (NZ) (So You Think {NZ}) in the G2 Surround S. should have jockey Brenton Avdulla feeling positive about the chances of his filly.

Dual Group 1 winner Global Glamour (Aus) (Star Witness {Aus}) has had some hard racing of late, but one thing in her favour is she'll be rock-hard race fit in an attempt to record her third elite-level victory from just 10 starts.

Unbeaten this time in, winning her last four, including Group 2 contests at her last two starts, In Her Time (Aus) (Time Thief {Aus}) is out to give not only her trainer Benjamin Smith his first Group 1 win as a trainer, but also his well-related sire, who was sold to stand in South Africa after starting his career on the Darley roster in Australia.

With five wins from seven starts including the G1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas, La Bella Diosa's first-up Group 2 victory in Australia really highlighted her class, and jockey Jay Ford looks set to give the 3-year-old every chance.

Team Hawkes will saddle up Euro Angel (NZ) (Rip Van Winkle {Ire}) in the Coolmore Classic, and having never finished out of the placings when racing second-up, the 4-year-old mare looks capable of surprising a few of her rivals.
