The Inglis Classic Yearling Sale Book 2, staged Friday at the Newmarket complex in Sydney, saw a strong clearance rate of 89% and figures up across the board. The gross grew 48% to A$692,750 for 74 sold; the average climbed 42% to A$9,361; and the median was up 5.3% to A$5,000. The most expensive lot of the sale was 65, a son of Roman Emperor (NZ) picked up by Inglis as agent from Anthony Cummings's Princes Farm.
Trainer Paul Perry was leading buyer of the sale, spending A$85,000 on three lots including a A$40,000 Uncle Mo filly (lot 81).
Book 2 was immediately followed by the Autumn Thoroughbred Sale, where the lightly raced 3-year-old gelding Whirldwind Ascent (Aus) (Artie Schiller) fetched the top price of A$48,000 from Bonville Thoroughbreds.
“We are delighted to have facilitated the trade of over 800 horses this week in Sydney,” said Inglis National Bloodstock Director Jonathan D'Arcy. “We've been treated to some beautiful weather and some outstanding yearlings, breeding and racing stock. We thank all the vendors for entrusting us with some truly premium products and for our extensive buying bench for their ongoing support.”
