Trio Charged Over Horse Sale

Glyn Schofield | Racing and Sports

Sydney media personality Richard Callander, jockey Glyn Schofield and Liam Prior, stable foreman to Chris Waller, have all been handed charges by Racing NSW relating to the sale of the horse Lil Caesar (Aus) (Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}) to Hong Kong, according to Racing.com. Callander, the former managing owner of Lil Caesar–who now races in Hong Kong as Lucky Year–when trained by Waller, and Prior have been charged for dishonest and/or fraudulent actions regarding the dispersal of A$60,000 from the A$200,000 sale. Prior told stewards he received A$24,000 from the sale. Waller was cleared of any involvement in the case.

Schofield, who reportedly received A$10,000 from Callander and A$10,000 from the horse's buyer, Hong Kong trainer Danny Shum, is charged with failing to seek permission from stewards for involvement in bloodstock trading. He is also currently facing similar charges in Victoria.

The charges are expected to be heard Mar. 10.
